From stripped down, gritty hillbilly sounds to slinky swamp ballads, the Bourgeois Gypsies hold true to the old Gypsy proverb “Stay where there are songs”. Shades of country, blues, and soul with a twist of Bakersfield can be heard throughout, but the result is a sound uniquely their own. Think back porch music full of sing-along choruses and edgy riffs. Since the release of their second studio album Faulty Fairytales, the Bourgeois Gypsies have received extensive airplay on over 200 stations in the US. Faulty Fairytales was on the Relix Jambands charts for over 6 months in 2009 reaching # 4 in February. They were also in the top 25 of the FAR Charts (Freeform Americana Radio). They have played live radio spots from San Antonio to San Francisco, including KPIG & KSYM and sharing live broadcasts with bands such as Hot Buttered Rum & Ramblin’ Jack Elliot. Touring behind the CD, they’ve played festivals including North by Northeast (Toronto, ON), Midpoint Music Festival (Cincinnati, OH), High Sierra Music Festival (Quincy, CA), World United Music Festival (San Marcos, TX), Harmony Festival (Santa Rosa, CA) & The Whole Earth Festival (Davis, CA), sharing the stage with Poor Man’s Whiskey Bonerama, Lubriphonic, The Duhks and more.
